Accessibility at Kinse
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on kinse.io and in the Kinse app. WCAG is the most widely used standard for accessible websites. We are not there on every page yet, and the known gaps are listed below.
How we check
- Automated accessibility checks on key pages, run against the WCAG 2.2 rules that tools can test.
- Checks that text stays readable at twice its size, on narrow phone screens and with extra space between lines and letters.
- Keyboard checks, so every button, link and form can be used without a mouse.
- Contrast checks on every text color against the backgrounds it sits on.
- Testing with screen readers (VoiceOver and NVDA). This is in progress.

Display settings
Select the person icon on any page, or open Settings in the Kinse app, to change text size, contrast, motion, spacing and link underlines. Your choices are saved on the device you use.
Settings from your device
Kinse also follows settings you already use on your phone or computer: larger text and browser zoom, Increase contrast, Reduce motion, dark mode and Windows contrast themes.
Known gaps
These are the problems we know about and are working on.
- Calls with Cora are spoken phone calls. There is not yet a text or TTY option for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
- Some charts in the Kinse app show trends as pictures. The numbers behind them are not yet available as text.
- The largest text size in Display settings is 150%. For larger text, use your browser zoom.
- Some highlighted text in the app is slightly below the recommended contrast on gray backgrounds. Turning on More contrast fixes this.
- We have not yet tested every page with a screen reader.
