Health Information & HIPAA
Last updated: October 18, 2026
This page explains how the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) relates to Kinse, and how we protect health-related information. Our Privacy Policy covers all the personal information we collect.
Kinse is not a HIPAA covered entity
Kinse is a caregiving service for families. We are not a hospital, clinic, insurer, or licensed medical provider, and Kinse is not a HIPAA covered entity. HIPAA does not apply to information that you or your family give Kinse directly.
Kinse does not provide medical care, clinical advice, or emergency response. If someone needs medical help, contact a qualified professional. In an emergency, call 911.
We do not claim to be "HIPAA certified" or "HIPAA compliant."
Care organizations covered by HIPAA
Kinse does not sign business associate agreements today. If your organization is a HIPAA covered entity, talk to us at support@kinse.io before you enter protected health information (PHI) in Kinse.
Health-related information Kinse handles
Depending on how your account is used, Kinse may handle information such as:
- Medication names, schedules, and whether a dose was taken, missed, or refused
- Information from phone check-ins, such as the call summary and medication answers
- Care-team membership and alert preferences
- Contact details needed to place calls
How we protect it
- Information about a person is shown to the account owner and to people invited to that person's care team, with the access the owner chooses. On an organization plan, staff see the clients assigned to them.
- Service providers that help us run Kinse, such as hosting, calling, AI processing, and messaging, receive only what they need to provide their service, under contract.
- Product analytics run only after you accept cookies and do not record your screen inside the Kinse app.
- Error monitoring keeps no contact details. When it records a screen replay to help fix an error, all text and form inputs are masked and images are blocked.
Your role
You are responsible for:
- Entering accurate information
- Inviting only people who should see a person's information
- Using Kinse as a support tool, not as a substitute for professional care
- Telling us if you believe information has been accessed or shared improperly
Security incidents
If we learn of a security incident that affects your information, we will notify affected account owners as required by applicable law.
